Travelling by London Underground
The nearest tube station is Holborn, which is on the Central and Piccadilly lines and which opened in 1906.
In 1933, the station was modernised and had new escalators installed. During the Second World War, valuable items from the British Museum were kept in the station’s tunnels to protect them from bomb damage.
The disused platform of the branch line to Aldwych (closed in 1994) has been used in numerous music videos, including Saturday Night by Suede and Turn Back Time by Aqua, the sixth single from their 1997 debut album Aquarium.
Chancery Lane and Russell Square are also within walking distance.
